Tax dodgers' names have been added to a meticulously documented list of successful prosecutions -- sort of a kill list for Canada Revenue Agency bureaucrats -- and their stories are out there for all to see on the agency's website.
And while it's heartening that Canada's tax authority takes its job seriously, a quick perusal of the list raises questions. Why, for instance, are small timers so predominant? Admittedly, there are a few real estate agents, business owners and other more well-to-do types but it's really just a sprinkling. The real question is, why is there virtually no representation from the higher escalations of the economic food chain? Almost certainly they exist.
