SAINTE-JULIE, Que. -- Swimwear retailer Groupe Bikini Village Inc. is seeking creditor protection under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
The Quebec-based company says it has hired PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc. as a trustee and will be making a proposal to its creditors for a stay on debt repayments and any creditor proceeding.
Bikini Village says it will continue to operate its stores "in the ordinary course of business.''
It would not confirm any job cuts.
The retailer has 52 stores and employs 400 people.
