Everyone's favourite cheerful kitty is coming to play.
Popular Japanese cartoon Hello Kitty is going on her first ever North American live tour and is making a stop in Vancouver July 17 to 19, 2015.
Hello Kitty's Supercute Friendship Festival will include art, animation, merchandise, and photo opportunities with Hello Kitty and the rest of the Sanrio cartoon gang. And of course, attendees are encouraged to cosplay.
One Hello Kitty fan, Sophia Lam, has already bought her tickets and will be attending the event with her two little cousins. Lam says the event is unlike anything she’s ever heard of and adds that while the idea of seeing Hello Kitty in person is “bizarre,” it's something she “definitely didn't want to miss out on.”
She emphasizes that her cousins are the ones dragging her along to the event and that it's “totally not the other way around.”
Since this is the first ever North American tour, Vancouverites seem to be pretty excited about the arrival of Hello Kitty and her pals.
The event will be held at the PNE Forum, with tickets priced at $25 for youth and $35 for adults.
Hello Kitty is a fictional cartoon character created by Yuko Shimizu. Other characters on her show "Hello Kitty and Friends" include Dear Daniel, My Melody, Badtz-Maru, Keroppi, Chococat, and Pompon Purin.
Fans were up in arms in August when it was revealed that Hello Kitty was not, in fact, a cat. But Sanrio quickly cleared things up by saying that was not NOT a cat; rather, she was a "motif" and "personification of a cat."
