TORONTO – Tanya Kim, who has co-hosted “etalk” with Ben Mulroney for over a decade, is among the latest group to be hit by layoffs at Bell Media-owned companies.

Bell Media, which runs CTV and a raft of specialty channels, confirmed Monday that both Kim and “The Movie Network” host Teri Hart had seen their positions eliminated.

The Huffington Post Canada contacted Bell Media and received the following statement from Scott Henderson, Vice-President of Communications:

"Tanya Kim and Teri Hart saw their positions eliminated yesterday. This is related to the restructuring of Bell Media’s in-house production team as previously announced. Although sad to say goodbye to both, 'eTalk' has a robust team of personalities that will continue to deliver Canada’s #1 entertainment coverage on Bell Media properties."

The layoffs are part of a plan announced by the multimedia giant in June to cut up to 120 jobs at its TV operations due to “financial pressures” in advertising and subscription TV services.

In July, some 91 of the total 120 cuts were announced, mostly affecting music channels Much, M3 and MTV.

Spokesman Scott Henderson said Monday that an additional two positions were eliminated at Bell Media Radio in Ottawa.

He said five on-air personalities at BOB FM in Ottawa were let go but will be replaced.

Kim worked as a videographer at MuchMusic (now called Much) and a music reporter for CTV’s “The Chatroom” before joining “etalk” in 2003 to co-host with Mulroney.

On the popular entertainment program, she worked red carpets at the Juno Awards and the Academy Awards. She also helped cover the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver for CTV.

Tanya Kim posted this thank-you note to all her fans and well-wishers on her website:

As of November 10th, 2014, my relationship with Bell Media has come to an end. I would like to thank the network and especially ETALK for a wonderful 10 years that has granted me so many opportunities. I am forever grateful to have worked with such an incredibly talented team who I called my second family. I love you guys.

299 Queen Street West was my home for a decade but now I must move on to the next chapter of my professional career. A BIG HEARTFELT thank you to all the fans and viewers who have supported me throughout the years. Your love, support and positivity mean the world to me. I look forward to this new adventure and I’m eager to share the journey with all of you.

Love and Light, TK.

Hart, meanwhile, was the host of The Movie Network’s “Movie Entertainment,” which featured long-form interviews with celebrities and red carpet coverage.

The channel’s website says she has been “the face of The Movie Network” for over 18 years.

Hart and Kim could not immediately be reached for comment Monday night.
