TORONTO - The Canadian subsidiary of Molson Coors Brewing Co. has settled its lawsuit with Miller Brewing Company, clearing the way for the SABMiller unit to resume distribution of its brands in Canada next April.
Terms of the pre-trial settlement were not immediately disclosed.
Molson Coors filed the suit last year in Ontario after Miller gave notice that it wanted to end its Canadian licensing agreement in order to develop the brands in Canada on its own.
The agreement covers such well-known brands as Millers Genuine Draft, Miller Lite and Miller High Life.
These beers represent less than one per cent of Molson Coors's world-wide volume and around five per cent of its Canadian volume.
Miller Brewing Co. is a subsidiary of SABMiller, the world's second-largest brewer. The two brewers have a joint venture to sell their companies' brands in the United States.
