It looks like west is best if you're hoping for a pay hike next year.

Workers in Calgary and Saskatoon will see some of the highest salary increases in 2015, according to a new report from Hay Group, a global management consulting firm.

Cowtown is expected to have the highest salary increase in the country in 2015 at 3.2 per cent. St. John's (3.1 per cent) and Saskatoon (3.0 per cent) round out the top three cities in Canada.

Alberta, as a province, will see the highest salary increases, with 3.1 per cent, while Saskatchewan comes in a close second at 2.9 per cent. The national average is 2.6 per cent. These pay hikes are buoyed by demand for key skills in the resource industries.

The survey also found that four out of five Canadian employers plan to give their employees a base salary increase in 2015.

Nationally, employees in the oil and gas, financial services, credit union, and chemical sectors will be up for the biggest raises, found the survey of more than 400 public and private sector employees.

Those working in telecommunications, education, and government, however, will see the lowest increases.
