'Tis the season of holiday hugs and viral Christmas videos, so one Canadian telecom aimed high to make both happen in a new campaign.
Joyce, an Ontario grandmother, hasn’t seen her grandson Shaun in nearly three decades. Since they last were face to face, Shaun got married and became a father, raising his young family in B.C.
“I don’t know how we lost touch,” Joyce explains in the video. “It just happened.”
Thirty years is a long time to go without a visit, which is probably why this particular story stood out among the thousands of entries Telus received in its campaign to reconnect family members this Christmas. In the end, only four were chosen.
To reconnect grandson with grandma, Telus put Shaun and his family on a plane to deliver him straight to Joyce's front door — just in time for the holidays.
