Tim Hudak Made $2.15 Billion Platform Mistake, Liberals Say

TORONTO - Ontario's Liberals say they have found another mistake in Tim Hudak's platform — this one to the tune of $2.15 billion.

That's the amount of money the Progressive Conservative leader says he'll save each year with a public-sector wage freeze.

However, the Liberals say their budget plan contained no money for wage increases.

As a result, they say Hudak will have to make significant cuts to achieve that kind of saving.

Hudak is already under fire by many economists for the apparently faulty math in his pledge to create one million jobs.

The Tory leader has insisted his plan is sound.

But the Liberals say to achieve the $2.15 billion in pledged saving, a Hudak government would have to go on a "frenzy of slash and burn."

"Everybody is fair game," said Brad Duguid, Liberal minister responsible for post-secondary education.

"This is exactly what happened with (former Tory premier) Mike Harris."

Hudak is either misleading voters or is "grossly incompetent," Duguid said.
